Wrong Decision!! Advice anyone?

Q: My friend asked me to cosign for a car loan. I agreed. When we got to the car dealership they stated that her credit was to bad..They told me that I would have to get the car on my own. she promised that she would make all payments on time. I went ahead and put the car in my name. Here it is 2 years later and she has not made a payment. I have went to her job to get the car. I found out that she has other people dropping her off. I went by her place to discover that she has moved. All numbers have been changed. I contacted the police and was told that I could not report the car stolen. I amm in the process of buying a new home and I really really need this extra income...if I could at least get the damn car back. Even if I cant sell it at least I would have the car. What can I do

A: Your only recourse is to take your cousin to small claims court to have the car returned to you. This too will incur some fees unless you choose to go on one of the court television shows. You may even have to hire a detective to locate her. This may be time consuming and possibly costly, but with you wanting to purchase a home, it's a necessity in order to keep your own credit record clean. My question is have you at least kept up with the car payments?
