Hello i want to know where i can find a job at in atlanta ga im a cook, cashier, adm. asst ,ect can some help me

Q:

A: Buy a copy of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. It has the best help wanted ads in the area. There is a website for it www.ajc.com but the ads there are sort of out of date. You can also look at www.dol.state.ga.us This site is kept up as far as new listings but we have told DOL twice to remove a listing we have there for a fundraiser and ppl are still calling us so I don't know how good they are at taking out notices for jobs that are no longer open. Waffel Houses, Huddle Houses, McDonalds, BK, Wendy's often have openings so call a few and ask. For that matter open the yellow pages to resteraunts pick out a dozen or so near you and call them and ask if they have openings. Do not call at peak meal times of course. WallMart,KMart, dollar stores etc may need seasonal help too and will often offer permanent jobs to the best workers. For those and for grocery stores you need to go by and fill out an application. For office work like admin ast. you need good business skills, keyboarding, phone, understanding of office practice, spelling. If you have those you could also try temp help agencies (see employment agencies, temporary in the yellow pages or at www.switchboard.com) A lot of entry level and beyone jobs in GA are filled by these agencies onn a temp to perm basis. There is no cost you; fees are paid by the employer. The job market is getting tighter but there are still a lot of jobs there. Because there are fewer jobs and more people looking you need an edge. Your edge is being neat clean (no piercings or at least no rings and studs in the piercings , tattoos if any as covered as possible, hair a normal hair color and neatly done) polite, having a list of everywhere you have ever worked including address phone boss' name, dates you worked. A resume is good but at least a list to put on an application. If this is a first job then teachers from school. your pastor, anyone you ever baby sat for, etc. are your references. Ask every reference first so you know it is OK with them and they know to be prepared. If you are applying for an office job a real resume is pretty much required. Do a search at www.altavista.com or Yahoo for "resume template" if your word processing program doesn't give you a pattern to follow to make a resume. The very best way of course is to ask everyone you know to ask everyone they know to ask everyone they know whether they know anyone who is hiring. Lots of jobs are filled by word of mouth recommendation before they are ever advertized.
