Why is rent in Atlanta, Georgia so cheap?

Q: Are jobs so hard to come by? Is it the weather? What is it? $600-$800 for a 2 Bedroom in the Atlanta metro, is that for real? Thanks to everybody! Your answers have been helpful.

A: That sounds like a come on listing and for goodness sake do not agree to any deals where you must send money first for a look or wire money to yourself and send proof to them to prove you can do the deal. Another famous scam. Do not agree to rent just by seeing pics on line either. Realistically I paid that for a 1 BR in Atlanta 15 yrs ago. I would figure $800 -900 now for a1BR and $1000+ minimum for a 2 BR in an area where I would feel safe living and that would not be a fancy place or gated community etc. Jobs used to be easy to get tho the job market is tightening, weather is hot but not unbearable and AC is a constant, traffic is awful but in which major metro area is it not tho Atlanta is worst than most about always having some road dug up, water shortages have not yet hit in ways that impact basic living but this is a 3 yr severe drought. My advce is get job 1st bec u do not want a cross town commute unless u r just looking to burn 2 hrs worth of gas. There are apartment hotels at $215 a week incl utilities and maid service that can do as a temp place to hang your hat till you find the home you want
