Hurricane Ike - The Woodlands/Conroe?

Q: I live in Germany, but all of my family and friends are in The Woodlands/Conroe area. I can't seem to find anything specific online about how they are holding up. More specifically (if you are familiar with the area) Oak Ridge/Chateau Woods.

A: I live in the Conroe area, and my wife was in St Luke's hospital during Ike I have made the trip there and back each day. The Woodlands /Oak Ridge area sustained a substantial amount of wind damage. Many downed signs and trees. As you travel North into Conroe much of the same. LOTS of trees on houses and cars. Initial reports on the radio are saying very few deaths for the local area, last i heard was 4ish. Most of us are with out power, land lines, and cell service. If you are trying to get a message through, the best way at the moment is to send a txt. We will often get signal for 30 seconds and our txt messages will download to the phone. I'm on internet at the hospital, but no phone service here on my cell. As of this morning the hospital is expecting to be generators for 3 weeks. Don't be alarmed if you can't contact your family right away. Its like living in a dead zone and our only source of info is what we can get off of the radio. Most of it is centered on Houston and Galveston as can be expected. Hope this helps you. -Tony Panorama Village Conroe, TX
