Q: I want to file a small claim in New Orleans, LA however, a friend of mine told me if my damages were larger than $3,000 then I should file something different. He told me the limit on that type of claim could be $30,000 (I have no idea what he called it). Could someone explain to me how to file a claim and which one I should file? My damages are approximately $45,000, maybe a little more. And I went to two different lawyers, one was a little too arrogant for my taste and the other one is going through a nasty divorce and put all cases on hold, so I really don't feel like dealing with an attorney anymore. Any advice would help. Thanks!
