Q: in regards to theft, assault and other things. is the place livable?
A: Unfortunately, Newark is one of the most dangerous cities in NJ, whether you like my political incorrectness or not. The ONLY part of Newark that I would consider a quarter safe, would be the Ironbound section of Newark, and even that area is very shady. Newark has had a record amount of murders this past year already. However, if you REALLY want to live in Newark for the convenience, I would focus on the Ironbound section (Ferry Street area) or perhaps the very far northernmost section of Newark that borders Belleville.
