What do Disney theme parks look for when they cast princesses? Are there weight, height, or age requirements?

Q: I'm just curious because this girl i met said she auditioned for tinker bell and was told she'd have to lose weight even though she's really skinny. Is it hard to get such a job?

A: I used to be a "face" character... I can tell you it's not for everyone. I loved doing "fur", the costumes and the parades, but once you get approved for face, you rarely get a chance to go back into fur. Either way, when last I was there (about 4 years ago) the only Tinkerbell was the one that flew just before the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. She had a specific weight requirement due to the wires. The other princesses all have height restrictions, (generally in the 5'4" - 5'6" if I remember correctly) but nothing is set in stone as far as weight. Obviously though, even without set limits if you're overweight it's not going to happen. It's mainly based on looks, and a short / easy dance routine. The most important thing BY FAR is to keep smiling no matter what, don't ever show that you screwed something up no matter how obvious it was. You can NEVER tell how it's going to go, hundreds of people show up and only a handful are picked. It depends on the current staffing. Be honest with yourself, if you think you really have a chance, keep going to the auditions even if you get turned down. It's likely they just didn't need anyone right then. I know plenty of girls (and guys!) who didn't get anything until their third or fourth time...
