I paid a tree contractor to trim my tree, he has not yet fulfilled his duty. What recourse do I have?

Q:

A: Have you contacted him to see when you might be scheduled? Could be a scheduling misunderstanding. Of course, the first recourse you have is to pay the contractor AFTER the work is done. This is usual and customary in the tree-trimming business and with most other contractors of all sorts. At this point, small claims court and a call to your BBB to lodge a complaint or if your local news media has a Watchdog or Consumer Advocate, that might be another route. Good luck.
