Q: Now that im ready to go and pick it up, the post office that my address is assigned to is saying that there is no hold placed. But when i try to go in and do it again just to see what it will say, it says one already exist for this address. Is it possible that the mail clerk im speaking to is just not looking far back enough? i know that the holds are suppose to be from 3- 30 days, it hasnt been 30 days yet. What can i do if they insist there is no hold. Who else would i ask to speak to?
A: Ask to a supervisor or the postmaster. I take it you placed the hold over the internet. These are supposed to be printed off everyday and given to the carriers. It's possible that this didn't happen and that's why the clerk couldn't find it. Only a supervisor or the postmaster can check to see if this has been done correctly. By the way have you checked your mailbox to see if the mail was actually stopped? If there's no mail in it, then it's at the post office.
