Q: i work all year long and my boss didnt pay my taxes for 7 months i was let go in jan. when i filed a claim with EDD they asked if i started working in july, i said no in janruary. so no unemployments were paid for 7 months , we didnt get check stubs, we got no breaks, and we had to watch 2 homosexual men give eachother backrubs while we worked.my unemployments benefits are only 150 a week i should be getting around $200to$225 a week and the benefits ran out after 3 months. i made 14,000 and only 425 in fed tax was withheld. he broke several labor laws he didnt pay anything to sdi(disability) but the money was deducted from my check each pay period.what do i do now?

A: You must report him to the Department of Labor in your state. You should be safe providing you have the documentation, to prove you did in fact worked, but without check stubs how do you know what he paid or not? You will be safe against a Charge of Tax evasion, or evading. You did get your Unemployment, maybe not what you should have, but you did received something. He paid your insurance, and acknowledged you as an employee. You may have received the money in your pay check/cash that he should have paid to the IRS; that would make you responsible to the IRS. Reporting him to the Internal Revenue department is to show it was not you negligence in failing to pay your taxes.
