Q: I am writing a book and I want to have my "template" bound for some friends for Christmas. Its a cook book so I wanted something durable because everyone splashes occasionally so I want it to be strong. Anyone know a company that would help me? Even like a kinko's or something like that?
A: It appears you are near Austin, so I've listed several commercial sources near you, and an online tutorial on bookbinding. Also ask around at your local arts & crafts stores like Archivers, Michaels, Craftsdirect etc. Many have periodic classes on bookbinding, and sometimes there are local paper and bookbinding co-ops. Find out where the artists hang out, then look around. You can use almost any material for the jacket (the part on the outside) from paper, to plastic, to leather. Different sealants will give different results for your project.
