Q: Our family is learning about Nourishing Traditions (Weston Price, Sally Fallon, Maker's Diet, etc.). We are going waaay over budget on food, and I'm desperate to make it better. One of our biggest expenses is dairy and meat. We may have solved the meat problem, but I noticed on an NT forum that some people get their raw dairy products from a Mennonite community and spend less than half what we do. Does anyone know of any Mennonite or Amish communities near San Antonio, TX?
A: Yes, traveling south on I-35 exit Rittiman Rd and take a right. The second street on the right (the 1st is Fairdale) you pass two lights, take a right. And on the right you'll see a non-descript looking building on your left with no windows. It is a Mennonite church.... good luck. Also, in the La Vernia area which is on Hwy 87 going east towards Victoria - La Vernia is a huge dairy community and you can go to the smaller dairies and buy fresh milk. Yum.
