Q: I've been told that it is illegal for a 12 year old kid to baby sit, and i don't feel like getting a job at the carwash. what if i babysat in my neighborhood while a mother was home? would that be okay? and how would i let them know that i am available? every time i hang up a sign, it's taken down within the next 3 hours!!! i am in desperate need of something to do this summer. oh, and if anyone has any other suggestions for summer jobs that allow 12 year olds, please include that in the question. thanks :)
A: If there's anything you can get MONEY for, it's weeding. Weeding?! Yes, I know it sounds tedious, but you can charge a freaking ton of money for weeding. EVERYBODY wants their garden to be weeded. Umm, I babysat when I was ten. She lived three doors down and she was two years old. I made good money and there was never any trouble. Honestly, I don't think they're going to come at you if you babysit...but start small. If you have cousins or friends with kids, suggest babysitting. If you have a local craft market or something like that, you'd be amazed at how easy, fun, and profitable it is to whip up something creative and spend a day selling it. Garage sales are always a good way to raise a little bit of extra pocket money. Ask your relatives or frineds if they have any junk you could take off their hands, and offer to clean the garage for your mom and sort out all the stuff you don't use anymore. Then make posters and signs and place them around the neighborhood! If you can, place an add in the newspaper for more traffic.
