Q: ...and I wanted to get a real feel for the city and its natives? I was thinking about checking out one of the following places to find a hotel: Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, DelMar, Cardiff, Encinitas, or Carlsbad. Which one of these places, or any others you can add, has the best beach and natural scenery with good access to restaurants, bars, and shopping within walking distance to the shore? Thank-you!
A: I think Pacific Beach is the best choice. There's a huge selection of bars and restaurants for night life choices, lots of placing to learn to go surfing during the day, and the Sunset Cliffs near there are super pretty. Everything is pretty much within walking distance, and you can easily catch buses to head downtown or to another part of the city. La Jolla and Cardiff are very expensive, and very Beverly Hills-esque. They're fun to visit, but I wouldn't stay there unless you've got a lot of $$$ to spend. ^-^;;
