Q: This would be a great help to me and my parents. They would prefer to buy a curved one if possible, but when it comes down to it, they don't really care. Any advice would also be greatly welcomed. Thanks!
A: There are TONS of music stores in San Diego that may or may not have a soprano saxophone that you want. I would call them. The ones I know from when I lived there were Alan's Music in La Mesa and Gann's Music in Santee, and also Band Central Station in San Marcos. I would call any and all of the stores in the area to see who has soprano saxophones. Then go try as many as possible, even if they are the same model as one you tried previously. The reason being is that a same model saxophone may play in a different way or have a different tone than what another one did previously. If you have a private lesson teacher I would also have them come along with as they should be able to tell you more about the different models. If you don't have a private lesson teacher, this would be a great time to talk to the music stores and and find a good teacher.
