Q: I saw a lot of different prices for that Luminox Navy SEAL Dive watch (Black Series 1 to be exact). But I don't want to end up getting a fake one with all that money I spent. How can you know if a watch is genuine or fake? Any tips and recommendations
A: If you are that concerned about purchasing a genuine watch then buy only from an Authorized Dealer they will be listed on the manufacturers website. Javy is right at the $100-$200 dollar price level you usually don't have to worry about it being counterfeit ;) (That watch is widely available and can be purchased brand new in the box for around $150) If you would like to get your husband a "real" dive watch consider the OMEGA Seamaster Chronometer (James Bond's watch from the 007 movies) it has a retail of about $2000 but it can be purchased brand new in the box for around $1300. This may seem like a luxury purchase but consider the fact that the OMEGA is an heirloom quality Certified Swiss Chronometer (just like a Rolex) that can be passed down from generation to generation, never needs a battery (Automatic Self-Winding Mechanical Movement) and unlike a $200 dive watch, will only go up in price as the years go by. So over time you not only have a functional work of art and a world-class timepiece but an investment that will increase in value the longer you own it!
