Q: My wife and I are in the process of selling our Condo. We will be moving to our new home in about six months. In the meantime, we will be living an apartment until our home is built. We are thinking about placing our storage items in a POD for about six months. Then having them deliver our storage items to our new home. We would like to hear any comments of those who have used the PODS Company (Portable On Demand Storage) before and what their experience was like. The website we found is as follows: www.pods.com Any information you could provide would help out immensely. Thank you for your time and assistance.
A: Hey Dude, Several years ago, I used a pre-curser to today's PODS (Box-It or Hold-it, something like that), I LOVED IT! There is no renting a truck! You load it at your convenience, (No additional rental time), They bring it where you want when you are ready. I had nothing broken and there was no evidence that it was not properly stored. If you have to move out of state, they'll bring it for an additional charge, no recruiting a friend to go with you to a storage facility to help unload. Everything about it was +++++! I used this for 6 or 7 months. Only weakness, if you are the type that likes to go to your storage unit to get things out, this is not an option. They will make the pod available to you, but you must make arrangements and there is some sort of charge. Also, unlike the storage place, if you don't have a lock, they don't have a loaner for you -- It's in your driveway. Hope I was able to help! James in San Diego
