Q: In the small local papers there used to be an at home section where people would post about stuffing envelopes from your home and you would be sent all the materials and be paid per envelope. I am looking for some extra cash and was interested in this. Anyone know a website or phone number I can call to see about this opportunity?
A: This is a scam. Don't do it and definitely don't send any money. ANY JOB AD THAT ASKS YOU TO SEND MONEY IS A SCAM. See this link: http://www.thejobspider.com/job/scams.asp#4 Here's an excerpt from the site: "Envelope Stuffing: This long-running scam offers to pay $3 or $4 per envelope you address or stuff. You send the company money for your start-up kit of instructions and some materials. They promise to send you a list of companies that want you to do the work. What you actually get is a list of companies that either do not exist or do not pay people to stuff envelopes. Or you receive instructions on how you can place ads like the one you answered and get unsuspecting consumers to send you money." There are a lot of "at-home" jobs you can find in the classifieds... but they are all scams. They continue to run because there's always a new crop of young people who don't realize it's a scam. Don't fall for it.
