If you haven't heard anything after a week, it's a good idea to call and see how things are going. Lots of times applications will sit for months before anybody looks at them. If you want an interview, it's best to actually ask for the manager. If they aren't there, ask when they're expected. That way you can wriggle yourself into an interview even if they haven't seen your application yet!
