Q: So I hear dthat here in San Diego, they is supposed to be a big earthquake hitting us soon. Is this true. Have any of you people heard about this. Please fill me in on any information about this. Thanks.
A: Accumulated stress along the San Andreas fault will potentially lead to the most severe earthquake (~7.7 magnitude) in Southern California since 1680. The epicenter is expected to be somewhere near the Salton Sea. San Diegans will be affected by the quake, but it will be nothing compared to what folks experience in Palm Springs and the L.A. basin. This is probably the largest earthquake that you could expect to feel from San Diego within the foreseeable future.
