Q:
A: A very good question, Mr. Czar. Wal-Mart, like every other company in the world, is in business TO MAKE MONEY. Not to help consumers; not to save the world; not to give jobs to the unemployable. The Wal-Mart model is to beat up vendors until they say "Uncle," agreeing to all kinds of incredibly unprofitable (for the vendor) conditions...just to get their products into the stores. Wal-Mart was a prospective client of the research company I worked for for many years. I actually heard--with my very own ears--this statement from the then Chairman: "Wal-Mart's goal is to be the only retailer in the United States." Talk about un-American! They want to drive everyone else out of business so they can gouge us on prices for the rest of eternity. This is why I refuse to shop there to this day. Now, I will get off my soapbox. Thank you.
