Q: Can any current employee or former employee tell me more information to supplement this blog? (see comments of https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=555990683967926888&postID=495122929058612445&pli=1)
A: I have read the blog you are talking about and although I can't say for sure if she experienced "inappropriate touching," I can say that in the year I worked there, I did not hear anything of the sort. She may be referring to the constant high-fiving and hugging which, while annoying, I would not classify as inappropriate. That said, I can list 20 other reasons why you shouldn't work for them. I will be brief. 1. I am going to assume that you are a smart girl who went to a good college. Do you REALLY want to use your degree to cold call all day, all week, every month? Because that is what it is, cold calling. You find leads, you find a contact, you pick up the phone 40 to 60 times a day. 2. I was there a year, which in Meltwater time means I should have been eligible for a retirement party and a gold watch. MW's turnover rate is incredibly high, and new hires tend to stay anywhere from 3 to 9 months before quitting or being fired for low sales results. Staying at a company for only 3 to 9 months on your resume looks awful, and you will most likely have to explain why you left/were asked to leave. 3. Meltwater has a habit of telling people that you were asked to leave, even if you quit, resignation letter in hand. It is bad for company morale to have people quitting left and right, so they tend to spread the word throughout the office (and other offices) that you "weren't the right fit" or you "weren't motivated." I was told by management that this motivates people to get on the phones, get excited (ie get scared). When I worked at MW, I overheard phone calls for a reference for a former employee, and none of them shed the employee in a good light. Like I said, I can give 20 reasons not to work for MW news, but these three points are the most concerning because they can mess with you future career. I hope this helps.
